SB 224 Project Review Has Been Discontinued
The SB 224 Project Review process for multi-story hospital buildings has been discontinued. The statute (Health and Safety Code §129875.2) that authorized OSHPD to implement this expedite process as a pilot project was repealed on January 1, 2009. OSHPD, therefore, is no longer accepting building permit applications for SB 224 project review. Any SB 224 projects that are currently open will continue to be processed through the SB 224 review to project completion.
The AB 2632 Project Review process implemented under Health and Safety Code §129875.1 continues to remain an option for expedite review of applicable maintenance and repair construction projects for single-story, wood-frame or light steel frame hospitals.
