Code Application Notices (CAN) & Policy Intent Notices (PIN) Definition

OSHPD issues CANs and PINs. The purpose of these publications is to interpret the California Building Standards Code.

A CAN is the Office’s interpretation of a specific code section.

• CANs 2001 (For use with projects submitted up to Dec. 31, 2007)


• CANs 2007 (For use with projects submitted on or after Jan 1, 2008)

A PIN is the Office’s policy on a specific subject.
