2020 Seismic Safety Extension
The 2020 Seismic Safety Extension allows acute care hospitals that meet strict financial hardship criteria to receive a seven year extension from the 2013 seismic safety deadlines and instead require the hospitals to replace those buildings by January 1, 2020. Putting the Pieces Together - Presentations available from OSHPD's Data Users Conference
The Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) presented its first Data Users Conference "Putting the Pieces Together" in Sacramento and Los Angeles in March 2009. The conference presentations covered a range of data topics, including:
- Currently available data and products, including Web-based resources
- Examples of real-world applications, including presentations by experienced OSHPD data users
- Financial and utilization data, including online search and analysis tool
- New products such as OSHPD's Healthcare Atlas

This third report on Community-Acquired Pneumonia Hospital Outcomes in California, 2003-2005 data provides quality of care outcomes on 208,000 adult pneumonia patients admitted to 354 California hospitals over the study's three-year period. Healthcare Workforce Diversity Advisory Council Final Report

In 2007, the Administration, with the assistance of a grant from The California Wellness Foundation, convened the Healthcare Workforce Diversity Advisory Council (Council) housed within the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (Office) and chaired by the Latino Coalition for a Healthy California (LCHC). The Council was charged with developing recommendations to address California's health professional shortages, especially among underrepresented groups. Public input from key stakeholders gathered through regional hearings guided the Council in identifying and prioritizing recommendations and developing the final report and fact sheet.
Steven M. Thompson Physician Corps Loan Repayment Program Report to the Legislature
This mandated report documents the five requirements of the program: number of program participants, name and location of practice settings, amount of funds expended, information from annual performance reviews, and an update on the status and statistics for the Physician Volunteer Program.
HAZUS Summary Report
OSHPD is currently implementing a new voluntary program to re-evaluate the seismic risk of hospital buildings classified as Structural Performance Category (SPC-1). OSHPD is using HAZARDS U.S. (HAZUS), a state-of-the-art methodology, to reassess the seismic risk of SPC-1 buildings and those that are determined to pose a low seismic risk may be reclassified to SPC-2. The SPC-2 buildings would have until 2030 to comply with the structural seismic safety standards.

OSHPD has launched a new interactive Web site where you can search for and compare hospital policies for discount payment and free care. Learn what income levels qualify for discounted and free care, and get application forms and contact information for each hospital for assistance in applying for care.
2006 Annual Financial Data is now available. To access annual financial reports on California hospitals utilize the following Query Applications. Data is provided on more than 250 elements including revenues, financial ratios, and licensing status. Hospitals can queried by name, county, type of care and bed size. The queries provide profiles of selected hospitals and charts of summarized information beginning in 2000.
California Report on Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery, 2005 Hospital Data: This report provides quality ratings for the 120 hospitals performing 16,939 isolated CABG surgeries in California during 2005. This is the third report for the state's mandatory heart bypass surgery reporting program.
Hospital Fair Pricing Policies:
AB 774 (Chapter 755, Statutes of 2006) requires each licensed general acute care hospital, psychiatric acute hospital, and special hospital to increase public awareness of the availability of charity care, payment discounts, and government-sponsored health insurance; and to standardize its billing and collections procedures. This link provides general information about the new requirements, including lists of affected hospitals, summary of new reporting requirements, and FAQs.
Emergency Department and Ambulatory Surgery Patient Data - January to December 2006 is now available. The data include patient demographic information such as age, sex, county of residence, race/ethnicity, diagnostic information, treatment information, disposition, and expected source of payment.
Seismic Safety - The Facilities Development Division manages the seismic safety program that ensures California's healthcare facilities meet seismic requirements and are capable of providing services to the community in the event of an earthquake or other natural disaster.
